Compensation:
  • $33.80 to $46.59 per hour

Role Overview:

The IT Specialist serves as the first line of help desk support for all Cutsforth staff, providing responsive, professional, and friendly assistance with IT hardware, software, and system access issues. This role ensures that employees have the tools, technology, and support they need to perform their work efficiently and securely.

The IT Specialist collaborates closely with IT Administrators and Cybersecurity team members to assist with system administration, configuration, and ongoing security and compliance initiatives. This position plays a key role in maintaining operational uptime, improving employee IT experience, and advancing organizational cybersecurity practices.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Help Desk Operations:
    • Act as the first point of contact for all IT-related requests, incidents, and inquiries.
    • Manage and respond to support tickets in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring users are informed throughout the resolution process.
    • Prioritize and escalate complex or high-impact issues to the appropriate IT or Cybersecurity team members while maintaining accountability for user follow-up.
    • Document problems, solutions, and user feedback in the ticketing system to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.
  2. Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve issues with desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, mobile devices, and peripherals.
    • Provide software support for applications including Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other company-approved applications.
    • Support remote and hybrid employees with VPN, connectivity, and communication tool issues.
    • Assist users with password resets, access permissions, and account configurations following security protocols.
    • Perform system re-imaging, software installations, and driver updates as required.
  3. Onboarding and Offboarding Support:
    • Prepare and deploy IT hardware and software for new employees, ensuring all systems are configured according to company standards.
    • Conduct new hire IT orientations, providing training on the use of common tools and best practices for cybersecurity and data handling.
    • Support offboarding by recovering hardware and maintaining asset records.
  4. User Support: 
    • Monitor ticket patterns to identify recurring issues or potential system improvements.
    • Recommend process updates, training materials, or documentation to reduce repeat incidents.
    • Support company-wide technology rollouts or upgrades, assisting users during transitions. 
  5. Customer Service and Communication:
    • Maintain a calm, patient, and solutions-oriented demeanor under pressure.
    • Build positive relationships with internal customers by ensuring that all support interactions are courteous, respectful, and educational.
    • Translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language appropriate to the audience’s level of technical knowledge.
  6. IT Administration Support: The IT Specialist will assist the IT Administrators to include, but not limited to:
    • Configuring, testing, and deploying IT Hardware and maintain accurate inventory records. 
    • Writing and maintaining technical instructions and other related documentation. 
    • Conducting audits and inspections of technical and security systems. 
    • Updating and maintaining software and OS patches.
  7. Cybersecurity Support: The IT Specialist will collaborate with team members involved in Cybersecurity practices and compliance to provide technical support, auditing and perform other necessary tasks and projects to maintain and improve cybersecurity compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or completion of a Certificate program in a related field
  • 2 or more years of prior experience in a similar role or a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Advanced user of Windows operating systems
  • Clear and effective interpersonal communicator, verbally and written.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • IT certifications such as A+, Net+, Sec+ or similar
  • Office 365/Azure Administration experience
  • Proactive problem solver that can arrive at solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Assertive self-learner that consistently keeps themselves updated with the latest features and processes in their IT scope.
  • Proficient in Office 365’s Outlook, Word, & Excel

Other Qualifications:
  • Successfully pass background check for cybersecurity access requirements.

Cybersecurity Role Expectations:
  • Candidate will be responsible for reviewing policies and procedures related to cybersecurity and those relevant to the functions of their role.
  • Candidate is expected to maintain a cybersecure work environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Position involves regular lifting, packing, and shipment preparation of IT equipment, including handling up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to type, handle products, tools and navigate a computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to view computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
